It is always hard for me to come up with Masculine Cards, I love fancy, vintage, feminine cards and so their easy to design and make. But a mans card just escapes me. I have four boys! On birthday I try so hard to come up with something that pertains to their life. I don’t always come up with something. The paper and the stamp set suggested this design to me although none of my boys (men) are boaters. For sure it is definitely masculine.
Just a note to let you know the colors are retiring as of May 31. Two of my favorites!
The card base is Lost Lagoon Card Stock layered with Very Vanilla and the top layer is from the Going Places DSP Stock.
Stamps are from the Stampin’ Up! The Open Sea Stamp Set. Blackberry Bliss Card Stock is layered behind the images stamped in Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon Yardstick is layered behind the images stamped in Lost Lagoon. The Ship Image layer was adhered using Stampin’ Dimensional for a focal point.
I used the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Basics Stamp Set and having a very clean stamping block and very clear back of image I carefully stretched and pressed the sentiment into a shallow curve. I stamped the image using Blackberry Bliss Ink, heat embossed it using Stampin’ Up! Clear Emboss Powder. Then carefully fussy cut it. Layered it on a piece of Black Berry Bliss Cardstock and fussy cut that layer just an 1/8″ away. Using Dimensionals I adhered it to the card front.
Inside I layered Blackberry Bliss Card Stock on the Lost Lagoon and last layer is Very Vanilla. I cut the same DSP as used on the front into a 1 1/2″ width and using the Stampin’ Up! Scalloped Tag Punch (Now retired) punched one end. The Anchor is from The Open Sea Stamp Set and was stamped in BlackBerry Bliss Ink on Very Vanilla, then die cut using a circle die from the Circle Die Set. The back piece is die cut using the next size circle in BlackBerry Bliss. Adhered with Snail Adhesive.
I made the envelope using the envelope punch board and Very Vanilla Card Stock. The lining is the same DSP as on the front of the card. The envelope was stamped with the world image from The Open Sea Stamp set in BlackBerry Bliss.
Let me know what you think!
