Hello from just north of Anchorage, AK. It is so wonderful, 50 this AM and now in the 60’s which will be close to the high for the next few days. Getting use to this really dry air is rather difficult considering that when I left GA the humidity was always somewhere between 80 and 100%! Loving being here with grands and great grands. I am missing my stamping room, I mean to bring some of the kits with me to do with my granddaughter but in the end opted for lighter weighing luggage. If I had thought ahead I would have mailed to her ahead of time. Oh, well, next time.
I am in the process of making another huge order. My wish list??? Impossible.
Okay, so I finally broke down and ordered the Swirly Bird Stamp Set Bundle. When I first saw this set I thought, not for me. However, I kept seeing cards made with this cute little bird and his swirly nest and so had to give it a try.
This card turned out so cute. I love the contrasting colors of Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla. The card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock with a layer of Dapper Denim Card Stock peeking through the edges. Then cutting another layer of Very Vanilla Card Stock just 1/4″ smaller on all sides I spritzed it with the Stampin Spritzer ( get two bottles for one order). These Spritzers are so much fun to play with, I put about 1/2″ of water with several drops of the ink refill, and spritz away. When finished I just fill with plain water, spritz a few times into the sink until the color is gone and put away until the next time. I love the random look of this background and it gives the card another dimension.
Next I adhered a piece of Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon on the left side of the card and glued the ends down on the reverse side. I then added a small piece of ribbon tied one time. Using the Big Shot I die cut the larger Swirl in Dapper Denim and adhered it using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.
Next I stamped the smaller Swirly next in Dapper Denim several times on the lower right side. using the Banners Framelits set I choose a medium Framlet for the Dapper Denim Card Stock and the next size down in Very Vanilla. I used the Happy Birthday Sentiment from the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set in Dapper Dan, then heat embossed using the Clear Stampin’ Embossing Powder. I added just one Dapper Denim Enamel dot.
The little bird is from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set stamped in two colors, Daffodil Delight and over stamped using Crushed Curry.
The inside is layered Very Vanilla Card Stock with Dapper Denim Card stock and topped with Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped three times using the small circles from the Swirly Bird Stamp set i Dapper Denim. The little bird was again stamped as on the front using Daffodil Delight and over stamping with Crushed Curry. Hope you like today’s card, and now I am sold on Swirly Birds!!!
