Didja ever??? Of course you have. Getting back from Alaska last week I suffered from jet lag for days..I had so many ideas running through my head, while I was on the plane (for 8 hours almost each way), I planned, drooled over the catalog, made lists, dreamed color combinations and made a huge wish list. When reality hit I had no inspiration, looked at my list, way too long, didn’t know where to start AND had two huge boxes of Stampin’ Up! goodies just waiting to be handled, inked, stamped and cut! BUT, where was the git up and go? I think it got up and went.
Finally, when I needed to have a post for today I just started pulling papers out and got started. Look at this card! Funny how I gravitated towards the darker, more somber colors that matched my stamping mood. See! card making, stamping is great therapy for sure.
Got the card made and during making had the inspiration for two more projects I will share over the next few days. Then, got out my camera, (I have decided I am camera challenged) and took pictures. However, all the cards were off center, I tried rotating and that made them look crazy. While playing with lighting, cameras and angles a big storm came up and our power went out! By that time it was 10 PM-decided I couldn’t do much by candle light so hung it up for then night.
This morning I dug out a tripod I had in the closet (bought it at a yard sale many years ago) and set it up. Attached the camera and still having angle issues I am going to post anyway. I plan to set up a light box in the future. I have the PVC skeleton made, just never attached the sheets or found a place for it.
So here is my somber-very fitting-sympathy card for a man. I am inclined to move that butterfly somewhat or to add another butterfly or two. Just not sure what to do but I like it as it is. Simple, clean and to the point.
The card base is Crumb Cake Card Stock, layered with Very Vanilla. Using the decorative branch from Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Set and inked in Soft Suede, I stamped it off once then onto the Very Vanilla repeating around the layer Attached the Very Vanilla to the Crumb Cake base. Then created another layer using Soft Suede and topped it with A layer of Very Vanilla. On the Very Vanilla layer using the branch again from Thoughts and Prayers in Soft Suede I stamped the branch on the upper half of the card. Using the sentiment from Flourishing Phrases I stamped it in Soft Suede on the lower left. Adhering this layer to the Soft Suede layer using SNAIL Adhesive.
Using Stampin’ UP! butterfly from Papillon Potpourri I stamped it in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The stamped butterfly was then punched out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Using a glue dot I adhered the butterfly to the top left of the card. Pearl Basic jewels were added to the butterfly to create a little ‘bling’.
The inside of the card is Soft Suede layered with Very Vanilla Card Stock. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede and is from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set. Just part of the branch stamp from Thoughts and Prayers was used to stamp the upper right of the inside.
Here are the products that I used in this Card:
