Love how this Dapper Denim ‘Just a Note’ card turned out! Accented with Peekaboo Peach die cuts and an unusual kind of watercolor background. There was another card I wanted a kind of watercolor background to play with. I used all sorts of ways of making backgrounds with two kinds of card stock. I finished the other card and had several ‘experiments’ left over. The background of this card is one of those experiments!
To get this background I put some dots of Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum and Peekaboo Peach Reinker on an Acrylic Block. Spritzed with water and kind of swirled around. I didn’t like the look so I took an old credit card edge and kind of just swished across the surface. Then using Whisper White Card Stock I placed a piece face down. I didn’t press it just kind of gently laid it on top. When the ink seeped through the back I carefully pulled the paper off the block. After letting it dry I cut it to size positioning the ‘ink blot’. Kind of interesting don’t you think?
After studying the background and playing with Peach Peekaboo an d Dapper Denim Card Stock I chose the Dapper Denim for the card base. Then using my Big Shot I die cut several different dies using the Swirly Scribbles Die set. Moving them around I decided that they should come off the page and leaving enough room at the top for the sentiment I glued them in place using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. Once in place I snipped off the overhanging die cut.
I first tried stamping the sentiment on Whisper White in Dapper Denim. Too stark with the lovely background so I made another background using Dapper Denim Ink on an Acrylic block, spritzed with alcohol this time, swirled the block and slightly blotted the ink so there was a fine layer left. I then place a piece of the Card Stock on the block face down. When it was dry I had my background for the sentiment, ready to stamp!
The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set. White and die cut using a circle from the Layering Circles Framelits. Then choosing the next up size die from the Layering Circles Framelits I die cut it in Dapper Denim. Adhered the Whisper White to the Dapper Denim using SNAIL adhesive. Adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Sentiment I placed it just on top of one of the swirls.
And then the inside. I didn’t have a sample that I liked so back to the acrylic block, Dapper Denim Ink Refill drops, swirled on an acrylic block and spritzed with alcohol. swirled, slightly blotted then placed Whisper White Card Stock face down. Dried and adhered to inside. Then choosing one of the dies left over from the front (Swirly Scribbles) I adhered it to the lower right side using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.
Love the modern look, actually pretty quick, easy and really fun. Can’t wait to try more! Think of the color combinations, try alcohol, water and very fine salt is another way to change the ‘ink blot look’. I feel a video coming on. (As soon as I get my video set up organized).
