Halloween Card featuring Stampin’ Up! Spooky Fun and Halloween Scenes Edgelits

Stampin’ Up! Spooky Fun Stamp Set and the matching Halloween Scenes Edgelits have so many possibilities!  On this card I was able to use many of the stamps and out of the dies!  I just couldn’t fit in the witch on her broom die cut….

The card base is Basic Black Card Stock layered with Basic Gray Card Stock.  Pumpkin Pie Card Stock is used for the moon and the bottom layer of the sentiment.  Dies cuts were done in Basic Black and were the tree and bats.  The Pumpkins were first stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on Pumpkin Pie Card Stock and die cut.  The gravestones were also stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink and die cut.  The spider was stamped on the tree after adhering the tree to the card base using Multipurpose Glue.  The Sentiment was stamped on Basic Gray using Tuxedo Black Ink and die cutting it out using a label die from the Tags and Labels Framelits.  The fence was die cut in Basic Gray and adhered using multiple dimensionals to give it a bit of dimension.

The inside was fun to create.  The diagonal DSP is from the Halloween Night Speciality Paper.  The cob web and spider were stamped on Whisper White Card Stock in Tuxedo Black Ink.  The gravestones were stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on the lower left corner.  All layers were adhered using SNAIL adhesive.

Stampin’ Up! Halloween Night DSP with Halloween Scenes Edgelits create fun Halloween Card!

Ever since I won second place in a small town Halloween Costume contest I have loved Halloween.  This town in Ohio was ‘tiny’!  My mom came up with a costume for our Halloween Parade when I was in about the second grade.  My neighbor/friend was also in the costume.  How about ‘Wee Willie Winkie’?  I got to be Wee Willie in a night gown carrying a small lamp.  AND my girl friend was the ‘outhouse’.  Our mothers made the outhouse out of an old box with straps inside so that my friend could walk with the house on her shoulders and she was inside.  Ingenious.  Great idea, but the next day she came down with Chicken pox or measles-I can’t remember which.  However, we won the second prize.  A silver dollar apiece.  Now in 1950 that was BIG money to a Second grader!  By the way, the winners of the costume parade was a couple that dressed as Tarzan and Jane.  (Now remember this is Rossford, Ohio- in October, and we usually had first frost long before the parade!)  Wish I had pictures but I don’t think any were taken.

So that is my story of why I really get excited about Halloween.  Did I  mention soaping windows, throwing corn on cars from  the side of the road (we lived pretty rural) or going around knocking on outhouses we knew were occupied!  (There were still some families from the old country that used their outhouses although all our houses were modern with modern facilities.)

Here is my first Halloween card of 2016 from the new Holiday Catalog. This card was loosely cased from Dawn Olchefske.  The card base is Pumpkin Pie Card Stock layered with Basic Black Card Stock.  The final layer is Whisper White Card Stock.  Using the Layered Squares scalloped die I cut three Basic Black Card Stock.  Then using the next size down plain Layered Squares die I cut three contrasting pieces in the Halloween Night Speciality Designer Series Paper.  Using the Die sent Halloween Scenes Edgelits I die cut a bat and the witch riding her broom in Basic Black.  I stamped the three Pumpkins in Tuxedo Black Ink from the Spooky Fun Stamp Set (and the little eyes and mouth) on Pumpkin Pie Card Stock.  I die cut it using the die from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies, trimmed off one pumpkin and closely trimmed the remaining two pumpkins.  All the dies were adhered to the Halloween Night Specialty DSP Squares using SNAIL adhesive.  All the squares were then positioned on the left side and adhered to the Whisper White Layer.

Using the new 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon I cut a short piece, trimmed the ends and adhered using SNAIL to the right side of the front.  Using Tuxedo Black Ink I stamped the sentiment from Suite Seasons on Pumpkin Pie Card Stock.  Using the Tag die from Labels and Tags Framelits I die cut the sentiment.  I then used the next size up Tag Die and cut it in Basic Black Card Stock.  Layered these using SNAIL adhesive and adhered over the ribbon to the card front using Stampin Dimensionals.

The inside was finished by layering Basic Black on the Pumpkin Pie Base then a final layer of Whisper White.  I placed two contrasting rows of Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape to the bottom and stamped the three ghosts in Tuxedo Black Ink from the Spooky Fun Stamp Set.  I think it’s kinda of fun.  Hope you like it!

Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Branches stamp set with Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper background

Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Branches Sentiment  and Night of Navy Card Stock create a perfect ‘masculine’ feeling “Your in My Thoughts” Card but is appropriate for an elegant woman as well!

Thoughtful Branches Bundle is only going to be available until August 31!  If you don’t have this versatile stamp set, order it today!  I love the sentiments on it, AND all the fun things you can do with the trees, tree, etc.

The Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper is perfect for elegance don’t you agree?  There are so many coordinating patterns in this Series.  I posted a card several weeks ago using four of the patterns!  All lovely, hard to choose just one.  This card Clean and Simple Card  features two designs in this paper series.

The card base is Night of Navy Card Stock, the lower half is Flora Boutique DSP adhered with SNAIL adhesive.  Using Night of Navy Ink I stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set on Whisper White Card Stock.  I then die cut it using an appropriate size of scalloped die from the Layering Circles Framelit Set.  I then die cut the next layer using Night of Navy in the very next size scalloped Die.  The final layer is two sizes up scalloped Circle using the Floral Boutique DSP.  I then adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Using Night of Navy Solid Bakers Twine I wrapped it around the lower 1/3 several times and tied it in a bow.

The card front was completed by adding two medium size Metal Rim Pearls to the right upper side.

Stampin’ Up! Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper with Fresh Fruit Stamp Set.

So, still thinking about summer.  Today I am in Savannah, GA where it is truly summer!  97 degrees this afternoon, 200% humidity and wilting breeze off the river.  Yes, I said wilting, the breeze is like a fan blowing across a hot stove!   Hot, hot, hot.  Accuweather says it feels like 108 degrees.  Funny I was sure it would say it felt closer to 130 degrees!

When I think of summer, I always think of all delicious fruits available for the picking in the summer.  Apples, peaches, grapes, pears, mangoes come to mind immediately.  My own personal favorite are the Mangoes.  They are luscious, plentiful and delicious this year!  And cheap, did I mention how very sweet they are?  Fragrant, sensually sweet and juicy for sure!

So here is my ‘fruit’ card.  Love you More is from the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set and for this card I think I am meaning, I love Mangoes more!  The card base here is Cucumber Crush (one of our new colors this year), with a layer of Daffodil Delight Card Stock  topped by a layer of  Daffodil Delight Card Stock.  All layers were adhered together using SNAIL adhesive.

love you more_edited-1-1

I really love shaker cards and after a few minutes of decision making I created this shaker card by Stamping the Sentiment from the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set in Cucumber Crush on  a piece of Whisper White Card Stock.  After measuring the Fruit Stand DSP I decided what size I wanted my shaker to be.  I then used a size of Layering Squares Framelits that just fit my sentiment and a little ‘wiggle’ room on the sides.  I then used the next size up of Layering Squares Framelit and die cut it in Cucumber Crush.  Then using a 1/4″ smaller die I cut out the front of the shaker.  Then using the Window Sheet I die cut a piece that was the same size as the outer edge of the Cucumber Crush Frame.  Using the corner rounder Punch I trimmed all the corners of the Whisper White, the Cucumber Envy and the window sheet   I adhered it to the frame with a few drops of Multipurpose Glue and allowed to sit for about 30 minutes to set up.  Then I  adhered self adhesive foam adhesive strips around the edge  on the back side of the window sheet being careful that there were not gaps in the border.  I always try to put my shaker contents on the background and carefully apply the frame (adhesive strips) carefully matching all edges.  Seal carefully.

I wanted a wider ribbon that was available in Cucumber Crush so i took three long strands of the Cucumber Crush Thick Bakers Twine and carefully braided the length I needed to go across the front of the card twice.

Using thin strip of Multipurpose Glue just below  the window frame in two rows not quite to the edge of the card.  I then cut my braided Cucumber Crush Thick Bakers Twine in to the lengths I needed and laid them on the stipe of Glue.  I allowed the glue to dry overnight.  Then I carefully cut the ends and frayed the ends into a kind of small fringe.  I finished the front of the card by placing a Metal rimmed Pearl embellishment between the two rows of braid in the middle.  love you more in_edited-1-1

The inside was finished by adhering a layer of Daffodil Delight Card Stock to the back page of the Cucumber Crush Card Stock.  Then placing another layer of Fruit Stand DSP.  Using the two little ‘twigs’ I stamped them on Whisper White Card Stock using Cucumber Envy in opposite corners.

Grateful Bunch and Jar of Love are sweet Thank you Card in Mint Macaron.

Summer flowers are beginning to fade.  I just noticed today that Walmart is already displaying potted fall mums here in the South!  Just a little early I think.  The weather here is stinkin’ hot.  Humid and sticky.  A few brief showers today and then it felt even more unbearable.  In the mid 90’s.

I used Mint Macaron to give this card a little breath of fresh flowers, maybe a cooler breeze!  Even the breezes have been hot this summer!  The base is Mint Macaron Card Stock with a layer of Blooms and Bliss DSP.  Then using the lovely flower stems in the Jar of Love Stamp Set I stamped them twice using Mint Macaroon.

The jar was made by using Stazon Black Ink on a window Sheet  and then using the matching jar die cut from Everyday Jar Framelits set.  Using just a drop of  the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the sides, top and bottom I adhered the die cut positioning it over the flower stems.

Using the flower stamp from Grateful Bunch Stamp Set I used Tuxedo Black on  Very Vanilla Card Stock and then punched out the flowers using the coordinating Blossom Bunch Punch.   Using a sponge dauber and Mint Macaroon Ink Pad I smudged each flower to get just a hint of green.  The centers are Daffodil Delight using a sponge dauber.  Positioning the flowers  over the stamped stems I added dimension to two of them by using Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them.  The other flowers were adhered by using glue dots.

The bow is Mint Macaroon 3/8″ sheer linen ribbon and adhered using a glue dot.  The sentiment is Thanks Stamp from the Jar of Love Stamp Set stamped in Tuxedo Black on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  It was then die cut using an appropriately sized die from the Tags and Labels Set.  It was then smudged on the edge using a sponge dauber and Mint Macaron Ink.  I adhered it using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The cute little Bee was stamped in Tuxedo Black on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  Die cut using the bee die from the Everyday Jar Framelits set.  I colored it using Daffodil Delight and Aqua Painter.  I gave the bee a little ‘bling’ adhering a small Rhinestone Basic Jewel to his head.

The inside of the card was finished using Very Vanilla Card Stock and placing a piece of Washi Tape form the Affectionately Yours Set across both corners.  The flowers are stamped using the two step flower from the Jug of Love Stamp Set.  The base of the flowers were stamped in Pool Party Ink.  The top layer was Mint Macaron.

Stampin’ Up! Love you Lots Frog perfect in Emerald Envy Green!

A couple of weeks ago my son and four children visited from Texas.  One of the boys is 11 and very close to me.  He always writes me little notes and I always keep one of his  notes  in my billfold.  This trip he got into my beads (with my permission ) and made me a lovely necklace.  Then he wrote me the sweetest note on a few sticky notes, put them into an envelope and wrote on the envelope that I couldn’t open it until he was gone.  He said he didn’t want to see me cry……Guess he knows me too well.  So I just had to create a card for an eleven year old boy, a thank you for making me the necklace and especially writing me such a sweet note.  Here is the necklace he created for me.  And below is the card I made for him.

Don’t you love frogs?  Emerald Envy is surely a froggy color!  I love this little frog, she looks so intelligent and just so ready to sing -er- croak a little song.  I cased this from BJ Peters, stampinbj.com.  I loved how she used the hearts to emphasize the “love you lots” sentiment.  Kind of a quick and easy card.  I did change it up a bit to make it mine.

The card base is Emerald Envy, layered with a piece of  DSP from the 2016-2018 Designer Series Paper Stack in Emerald Envy.  The Whisper White layer is layered with a piece of Tip Top Taupe Card Stock.  I first positioned the frog where I wanted her and then carefully stamped the little mud puddle using Tip Top Taupe Ink and the stamp is from Work of Art Stamp Set.  The frog is from the stamp set Love You Lots (a hostess stamp set-free with order of $150 or more!).  She is stamped in Tuxedo Black and using an aqua pen and Emerald Envy Ink Pad I gave her some color.  The Sentiment is from the Love You Lots Stamp Set stamped in Tuxedo Black.  I added an Emerald Envy Ruched Ribbon Bow just below the sentiment.  The hearts are die cut using the heart framelit from the Bear Hugs Framelits set in Real Red Card Stock.

The inside is Tip Top Taupe layered with Whisper White.  Using the Rick Rack stamp from the Work of Art Stamp set and is stamped in Emerald Envy.  One tiny heart was die cut using the same framelit as above.  I think she is lovely!

Stampin’ Up! Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper with Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set Background

One more use for the Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set!  The leaves as a background stamp!

Love this Fruit Stand DSP for it color and verve!  Wanted to just showcase the peach by it self, after all Georgia is the ‘Peach State’.  So I created this Thank you Card by using Peekaboo Peach Card Stock for the card base.  Then using the ‘leaf’ stamp from the Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set I stamped several times across the top half of the card  masking edges to keep from overlapping pattern too much.  I used Peekaboo Peach Ink.  Then I pulled out the Layering Circles Framelits and chose four different but close to each sizes using the scalloped circles.  I first found a circle that perfectly cut out this pretty peach from the Fruit Stand DSP.  Then I used the next size up to cut the layer under it to give it a kind  of frame in Peekaboo Peach Card Stock.    The Thank You sentiment is from the One Big Meaning Stamp Set, I stamped it in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White Card stock and then choosing a scalloped circle that just circled the sentiment I die it.  The next size die I cut out a layer in Peekaboo Peach.

Using a Spong Dauber I gently smudged all the edges with Peekaboo Peach Ink.  I then adhered the peach to the back ground using SNAIL adhesive and adhered the sentiment to its background using  SNAIL.

Using a piece of the stripped Fruit Stand DSP I cut it to exactly fit half of the card front covering the ragged edges of the stamped leaf image.  I adhered it to the lower half of the card using SNAIL Adhesive. I then circled the card with Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon and secured it overlapping it a tad just behind the peach medallion.  Then positioning both the peach and the sentiment I adhered the peach using Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered the sentiment using SNAIL adhesive.

Then I created a pretty bow and adhered it to the ribbon above the sentiment using glue dots.

Thank you peach

The inside of the card is finished using the Peach Washi Tape from the Playful Palette Desiger Washi Tape Set. The Washi Tape is applied diagonally across the upper left corner of a piece of Whisper White Card Stock.  The Card Stock is then adhered to the back side of the card.
