Sweet Sugarplum and Emerald Envy for an arty Masculine Birthday Card

Life does get in the way sometimes doesn’t it?  No post on Thursday, and late today!  My week was totally out of kilter.  Spent the night in Atlanta Sunday and so Monday was my Sunday!  All week I was one day off and my working days have changed.  Not working on weekends is difficult to adjust to!  One would think that it would be easy but…I always planned to not be able to stamp on the weekends so I always stamped on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  So last week I worked on Tuesday, spent the weekend in Atlanta and my stamping time was limited.  Just not enough hours in the day.

Today we had a going away party for our older son who is leaving for Steamboat Springs for the winter season.  He is excited, he will be driving a city tourist bus there.  AND the other reason for our family party was my youngest son’s 40th birthday!  so we had a lot to celebrate.  No stamping done!  I did spend some time thought on my son’s birthday card. He is very hard to think of a theme for 40.

He doesn’t hunt, fish, boat or watch sports.  He is a professional photographer, retired ballet dancer and now a banker.  Did I leave out  husband and daddy par excellence?  Lives near downtown Atlanta in a really arty area and has a mini farm in his backyard.

This is the card I came up with.  Black for the significant year,  plum  for brightness and creativity, emerald green because he is a jewel with a little peekaboo peach thrown in.

The card base is Basic Black Card Stock layered with Sweet Sugar Plum Card Stock and next layer is Emerald Envy Card Stock.  The background front is Very Vanilla Card Stock, stamping off twice I stamped the splattered background from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set in Peekaboo peach,  Emerald Envy and Sweet Sugar  Plum ink filling in the back ground.  I then die cut using the ‘waves’ from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits  and  a piece of Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack and adhering to the front of the card using Multipurpose Glue.   I die cut the numbers (Large Number Framelits)  first from a coordinating piece of Playful Palette DSP Stack  and then in Basic Black Card stock and adhered them together using Multipurpose Glue.  Die cutting two of the smaller swirls in a coordinating piece of the Playful Palette DSP Stack I cut them into  pieces to fit the odd places on the lower half of the card.  The front was finished off by adding the Emerald Envy Enamel Shapes from the 2016-2018 Enamel Shape Sets.

The inside was finished by adhering a layer of Sweet Sugarplum to inside back.  Taking a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock I used the spatter effect stamp from the Swirly Birds Stamp Set and stamped it in Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Emerald Envy.  The Sentiment is from the Suite Sayings Stamp Set  and stamped in Tuxedo Black.  All layered were adhered using SNAIL adhesive.

Here are the products that I used in this card!
