Stampin’ Up! Country Livin’ Birthday Card for older Teen Boy Rock Enthusiast!

One of the joys of creating your own cards is that you can make cards for those hard to find people when you want to send them ‘just that special’ card.  My 17 year old Grandson is just one of those people!  How to design a card for a 17 year old boy.  Now that is difficult.   My grandson plays guitar and has a small garage band that he really enjoys.  So……here is the card that I cased from  Wild West Paper Arts card as a jumping off point.  I changed it up a bit to suit me! Love the idea of Basic Black with the Cajun Craze. It just somehow says ” rock star”.

The base card is Basic Black Card Stock.  The next layer is Cajun Craze Card Stock adhered with SNAIL.  The top layer on the front is Basic Black Card Stock again.  I applied one strip of  5/8″ Burlap Ribbon a bit left of center.  I applied it with Fast Fuse to assure its permanency.  The star on the right was created by first die cutting the star by a die from the Stars Framelits set using a piece of Basic Black pattern paper  from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Using a sponge smudged it all over first with Cajun Craze Ink and then with Crushed Curry Ink.  Especially making it much heavier towards the edges, allowing the center open and brighter!  It was adhered on the right side using SNAIL Adhesive.

The guitar is from the Country Livin’ Stamp Set stamped in Stazon Jet Black Ink on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  I them carefully colored it using Aqua Painters and Cajun Craze,  Delightfu Dijon in a watercoloring fashion .   I then fussy cut it out and adhered to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it more definition.  The sentiment was Stamped in Cajun Craze using the words from the Crazy About You Stamp Set on Very Vanilla Card Stock.   Using the Layering Circles Framellits the sentiment was die cut and the layer under was die cut using the next size die in Cajun Craze Card Stock. The front was finished by placing stars in the four corners from Regals Enamel Shapes set.

The inside of the card was finished by layering Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla Card Stock.  The sentiments were stamped in Cajun Craze Ink  from the Confetti Celebration Stamp Set.  Don’t you love how it turned out?

These are the products that I used in this card:
