Artistically Asian Masking Technique using Mint Macaron and So Saffron

Years ago I taught Oriental Cooking Classes at the Community College in the evening enrichment classes.  I loved to cook Oriental/mainly Chinese, it fit perfectly with my large family of five children.  The beauty of Chinese meals is that you just add a a couple more choices the more people you have.  Also in Chinese cooking you always balance sweet/sour, cold/hot, spicy/bland.  This card is just that!

I did the masking technique again, by taking a piece of typing paper cut to the same size as the front of the card, then drawing a rough outline on it with a pencil, placing the paper on our piercing mat and using the piercing tool scoring the paper on the line.  Then I began to slowly tear out leaving a paper frame.

Using just a small piece of SNAIL I placed the front of the card on my worksheet.  Then I carefully fitted the mask over it and taped the four corners down.  I then took one of the Stampin’ Sponges-cut into four pieces and using Mint Macaron Ink I ‘smudged’ by rubbing vigorously in a haphazard manner inside the frame.  It’s easiest to start on the typing paper frame and move your sponge towards the middle.  Some areas will be darker than others and that adds to the contrast.  Next I took another sponge and using So Saffron I ‘smudged’ again until i had the inside frame covered. It’s always fun to lift up your frame and see what you have created-different every time!

Next I stamped the Oriental Tree from the Artistically Asian Stamp Set in Tip Top Taupe.  The sentiment is also from the Artistically Asian Stamp Set and is stamped in Tip Top Taupe.  I added two Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes and the front was finished!

The inside of the card was finished by layering Whisper White on Mint Macaron Card Stock. All chinese paintings have the little red character mark/seal  on them! The red mark/seal denotes the who originated the work.  Usually the seal is in a  square box.   So I decided to decorate the inside with that little mark only.  Quick, fun card.

Lift Me Up creates special 13 year old birthday card!

Cheerful, bright, happy, adventure, fun!  This card says them all and done with Night of Navy make this a perfect card for a special 13 year old great Grandson!  Sometimes it’s hard coming up with an idea for someone special and my Great Grandson is one of those very special kids!  I wanted his card to say all of the above and still be appropriate for a boy.  This is what I came up with.

The card base is Night of Navy with a layer of Carried Away DSP (Sale-A-Bration-Free!!! with a $50 order).  I pulled the colors of Peekaboo Peach, Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder to brighten up this card.  The panel with the ballons on it is Night of Navy with a layer of Whisper White Card Stock.  Using the two medium size hot air ballon stamps from the Lift Me Up Stamp Set  I stamped them in Night of Navy on a separate sheet of Whisper White Card Stock and using my Blender Pen and Peekaboo Peach and Night of Navy Ink Pads I colored them in.  Then I die cut them using their matching dies from Up and Away Thinlet Set. (Comes as a bundle and you save 10%!)  These were adhered to the white panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The numerals 13 were die cut from the Carried Away DSP and Night of Navy Card Stock.  These were adhered together slightly off, creating a shadow effect.  Then I using the scalloped die from the Layering Squares Framelit Set I cut the background in Night of Navy.  I then used a plain sided die from the same set just the next size smaller.  The numerals were adhered to the Whisper White Card Stock and then to the Night of Navy Card Stock and positioned on the lower right front and adhered using SNAIL adhesive.

The inside of the card was finished by stamping in Night of Navy Ink on Whisper White Card Stock the smaller ballon shape from the Lift Me Up Stamp Set.  The Sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set.

Cupcakes and Carousels DSP Thank you card

Happy Saturday!  Hope you have something fun planned for this weekend, or even better yet relax and just enjoy!

This card is a bright Thank You Card pulling its colors from the Cupcakes and Carousels Designers Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog.  The basic colors are Bermuda Bay and So Saffron.  The base card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock with a layer of So Saffron Card Stock layer.  Next a piece of Cupcakes and Carousels DSP is adhered.

The pretty flower is from the Touches of Texture Stamp Set stamped in Black Stazon Ink and set with a heat gun on Very Vanilla Card Stock.    Next I used the Aquapainter to fill in the flowers and the greenery using  So Saffron Ink Pad and Wild Wasabi.  When dry I die cut it out using Layering Oval Dies.  I laid the Layered Ovals dies with the Stitched Ovals dies and choose three sizes.

First I I cut the Very Vanilla with the flower in the Medium size die.  Next I used the Stitched Framelits Oval  in the same size and die cut it in Bermuda Bay Card Stock.  Then I used the next smaller size Oval to die cut the middle of the Bermuda Bay making a frame for the flowers.  Carefully lining up the Bermuda Bay and the Very Vanilla I glued them together.  Next I die cut the back ground oval using the next bigger size in So Saffron.

I adhered the So Saffron Oval to the top of the card with Snail Adhesive.  I then adhered the assembled flower picture with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the So Saffron Oval.

The sentiment at the bottom is from the Basket For You Host Set (Free!! with 150$ order). Stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink on Very Vanilla Card Stock.  It was then die cut in Bermuda Bay and So Saffron Card Stock using the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies.  All were adhered together with a shadow effect and adhered to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The front of the card was finished by adding some So Saffron Enamel Dots to the top and each side of the Sentiment Banner.

The inside was finished by layering So Saffron and Very Vanilla Card Stock then using scraps of the Cupcakes and Carousels DSP, So Saffron and Bermuda Bay to the upper right corner.

Up Up and away Spring is coming! Peekaboo Peach and Mint Macaron.

I wanted to show more sky and I wanted to feature the Peekaboo Peach with the Mint Macaron.  So here is my offering for today.  I fun fold, and this card was so easy to complete after laying all the pieces out they all fit together perfectly in this little tableau.

The card base is Peekaboo Peach Card Stock cut at 8 1/2 ” X 4 1/4 inches.  Then I folded each side in to meet in the middle by scoring at 2 1/4″ and 6 1/4″ on the long side. Next use a  piece of Carried Away Designer Series Paper (FREE in the Sale A Bration Catalog with a $50 purchase). I used coordinating prints on the top of bottom flap.

Next I Die cut the balloon in Mint Macaron using the Up and Away Thinlets Die.  I also first laid out the colors I wanted in the order I wanted them on the inside of the balloon.  I sued Peekaboo Peach and Watermelon Wonder Card Stock die cutting the strips from the Up And Away Thinlets dies.  Using a silicone sheet and Fine Tip Glue  I carefully glued  all the inside balloon pieces.

I also die cut the little clouds from the same die cut set using Thick Whisper White Card Stock.  The ballon was adhered carefully overlapping just a bit with SNAIL Adhesive.  I then adhered the clouds using Stamping Dimensionals.

The Sentiment is fro the Lift Me Up Stamp Set and stamped on the lower right front in Basic Black Ink.

The inside was finished by adhereing a piece of the Carried Away DSP to the middle part of the card.  The adhereing a second layer using Whisper White Card Stock.  I stamped the smallest ballon stamp in Peekaboo Peach.  I also finished the back of the balloon by die cutting matching stripes, gluing in place with the Fine Tip Glue Pen and trimming to fit with small paper snips.   img_6058_edited-1

This card is so colorful and cheerful, it would also make a nice get well card with the right sentiment.

Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Share the Love! Happy Valentine’s Day Blog Hop!

Hope your day is filled with Sunshine, Chocolates, and Lots’ of Love!

When I was looking for just the right heart to use here I could not find a die cut that I liked.  So I went through all my sets and found this lovely heart and it’s from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlets set!  Pefect for this card.  A quick and easy.

So that it fits into the Big Shot I cut my  Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base 4 1/4″ X 11″.  Creased at 5 1/2″ so it opens  long wise.  I then  used the Big Shot to cut two hearts positioned on the front of the card to the left aligning them up using the tip of the heart for positioning.  The row of hearts is also from the Mini Treat Bag Die Set.   I then picked out the lovely DSP from Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  Real Red Card Stock  under the row of hearts.   These all were adhered to the back under the die cut using SNAIL.

The arrows are die cut using Copper Foil Paper and the arrow from the Love Notes Framelits die set.  (I could not find my Gold Foil Paper which I wanted to use for these).  Adhered with Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Double die cut the Love sentiment from the DSP above and Real Red Card Stock. Love Sentiment is from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlets Set.  Adhering the two die cuts together slightly off center to create a shadow effect.  I then laid this on a Silicone Craft Sheet and applied a thick layer of glue from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and allowed it to dry over night. It gave it a glazed effect, I then applied to the front using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

The inside was finished by stamping in Real Red Ink the two hearts from the Sealed With Love Stamp Set on Whisper White Card Stock.  The Sentiment is also from the Sealed with Love Stamp Set.

Stampin’ Up! Real Red Valentine Tic Tac Holder

Valentine’s Day is is a great opportunity to remember those you work with in a special way.  I have found that just the simple little handmade gift is especially appreciated.  Seeing some Tic Tac Holders on Pinterest for all sorts of holidays-especially cute is the holder with the little snowman and his belly is cut out to show the tic tacs.  Finding just the right size heart for the front of these was difficult.  I made 48 of these.  That’s how many Tic Tac Boxes I had!  Amazon is amazing.  I bought a bulk order of Tic Tacs.  I’ve decided if you can’t find what you want on Amazon then it’s not available anywhere else!

Here is my creation. The Basic Folder  is Real Red or Whisper White Card Stock cut 5″ X  3″.Score at 2 1/8″   and 2 5/8″.  I mass cut these and rounded the corners using the Project Life Corner Rounder.   Next I cut a piece of Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack at 4 3/4″ X 2 3/4″  and again rounded all the corners. Before attaching the DSP I cut a  14″ piece of Real Red 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (also used Whisper White on the Real Red Card Stock) and adhered to the upper 1/3 of the outside.  Then I attached the DSP with Snail Adhesive on all the edges, folded on the score lines and die cut the little heart on the front piece using the heart die from the Baker’s Box Thinlets Die set.  Next I stamped the sentiment on the inside using Real Red Ink.

Here is the back side.

And a side view.

Here is the inside:

The front is finished using the Lace Doilies (Occasions Catalog) on the Whisper White Side cut into 1/4’s.  Using the Duet Banner Punch I punched out Whisper White and Real Red Card Stock.  Before layering these I stamped in Real Red Be Mine from the Bloomin Love Stamp Set.  The Tic Tac Box was adhered using Fast Fuse to the spine of the inside and attaching firmly.  Last assemble Lace Doily 1/4 Product List

banners and using Fast Fuse adhere to  the front!  Done.

Real Red and Sweet Sugarplum Petite Valentine Boxes

These boxes are so cute!  so easy to make.  They will hold two pieces of Ghirardelli Chocolate Candy or two pieces of ‘Fun Bar Size’-Candy Bars! These are done in Real Red and Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock.

Here is the template showing the cuts and the scoring done.   The whole box is a piece of card stock 6 1/2″ X 4 1/2″.  Scored on all sides at 1/2″ also scored at 3″ and 3 1/2″.  Fold, Clip, Glue corners, put together and you have a sweet little trinket box, it also holds gift cards perfectly.

This is what the box looks like after folding, scoring and clipping.

Here is the box with corners glued (or you can use Fast Fuse).

Here are some ideas to decorate the outside:

On this one above I added a belly band using a 1 1/2″ piece of Sending Love Designers Series Paper Stack.  Folded to fit around sides and glued together in the middle.  Next I wrapped twice a piece of Thick Whisper White Baker Twine and fastened in the middle (under the heart).  Basic layer under heart is the Whisper White Side of the Lace Doilies (Occasions Catalog).  The die cut real red heart used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlets die.  I then glued the die cut Real Red Heart to a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and ‘fussy cut’ around the heart.  The flowery heart is stamped in Real Red using the Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set.  I then die cut again using the Sunshine Wishes Heart die and inserted the middle and glued into place!  The little Arrow was die cut using Love Notes Framelits Die Cuts and the sentiment was stamped in Real Rd on Whisper White from the Sealed with Love Stamp Set and tried down to fit on arrow.

This little beauty was finished by a belly band of Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock, topped by a piece of the lovely Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim.  I turned the doily over and used the Very Vanilla Side of the Lace Doily out.  Using Sweet Sugarplum  Ink I stamped the heart from the Bloomin Love Stamp Set on Very Vanilla Card Stock, smudged the edge using a Sponge Dauber and Sweet Sugarplum Ink Pad.  The Arrow is die cut from the Love Notes Framelits Set, the sentiment stamped in Sweet Sugarplum on a scrap of Blushing Bride Card Stock, die cut using the little scalloped note die from the Love Notes Framelits Set.

Here are the different uses for this little box.
