Stampin’ Up! Red, White, Blue Candy Crate!

Favorite holidays!  4th of July is up there near the top.  I love fireworks and parades.  That just yells out 4th of July!  Recently we had an Amy’s Inkin Team Meeting, these were my favors to pass out to all the attendees.  I actually found Red, White and Blue Peanut and Regular M & M’s!  Also the Kisses were in blue foil as well in the Birthday section of Walmart.

Don’t you love the roster on the ends?  He’s on both ends.  I stamped this after I die cut the crate out.

These are the supplies I used in making these cute Red, White and Blue Candy Crates!

Card Stock:  Thick White Card Stock

Ink Pads:  Pacific Point, Real Red

Bundle:  Wood Crate Framelits and Wood Words Stamp Set

Stamp Set: Beautiful You (“Celebrate” Sentiment)

Candy Baggie:  Gusseted Cellophane Bags 3 X 6

Ribbon: Pacific Point  1/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon

Tape: Fast Fuse  (holds better than glue or regular tape)

Memorial Day Card! Shaker Card using Stampin’ Up! Dapper Denim, Stars Framelits,Whisper White, Real Red, Patriotic Card perfect for any service man or woman.

Please, before you see this card I must confess….I could barely bring myself to publish this card.  It was one of those cards with Murphy’s Law at work.  “IF IT COULD GO WRONG, IT DID!”  See the pretty blue smudge on the top of the card?  Yep, I couldn’t find a way to cover that up and by that time quite a few things went wrong.  I said to myself- “Self, why don’t you fess up and let everyone know that they are not the only ones who have days where a great idea goes soon wrong”. So here it is.

My problems (also know as mistakes -pains me to admit them…)

  1. Using the Star Framelits I cropped the star in the middle of the front of the card to make the shaker part.  That’s why this first picture is the inside of the card.  Not the correct way to make a shaker card.  You end up with a hole in the front of your card and a ‘bulge’ on the inside of your card.
  2. So  now I have to cover the hole on the inside and that is the shaker part.
  3. BUTl-I like the look of the red star layered on the white star insideMay 26, 2016_0279_edited-1

4.  Then I proceeded to make the shaker on the front, and I had some sequins from another project so I used those.  Another Mis-take.  You can see that the silver sequins are sticking to the front of the Shaker window.  Their way too small.

5.  So while finishing the inside with the Dapper Denim Smudge I accidentally folded the card front on the inker…..See at the top right of the card the blue smudge?

6.  Ok, now your thinking what else could go wrong?  Well—When I glued the white and red stars to the front of the card I used the multipurpose glue, put some on a little square of  card stock and used a toothpick to apply the glue to the back of the star.  You really can’t see it in the picture but when I applied the star to the front some glue in places squeezed out and when it dried became shiny on the blue side.

Thank goodness that was the last one!

Red,white, blue

I have been creating cards for almost 15 years.  I think this card has more mistakes on it and it still turned out rather presentable.  I got some whiteout and am going to try to cover the blue with the whiteout to see what that looks like.  I do like the design though.

Next post will be Tuesday, May 31.  Hope this makes you feel better when everything you do to a nice card is wrong.

Sneak Peek! Stampin’ Up! 2016-2017 Catalog color of Dapper Denim in Ruched Ribbon, Card Stock and Ink.

Don’t you love the coordinating colors and materials from Stampin’ Up!?  This card features a lot products from the new catalog, available to order on June 1!  Can’t wait.  This card features a shaker square using the **New** Dapper Denim Color and the Layering Squares Framelits.  These Square Framelits are perfect for all those ‘picture frame’ type cards and projects that you can think of.  Whisper White and Real Red coordinate perfectly with the Dapper Denim paper, ink and ribbon.  Here’s the card in honor of Memorial Day.DapperDenim

So many of the new products are used in this card.  Dapper Denim Ink, Ruched Ribbon and the sentiment is from the new Confetti Celebration Stamp Set.  The lovely, eye catching Dapper Denim Smudge at the top is from the Work of Art Stamp Set.  The stars are using the smallest Star Framelits set and topped with the largest of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  The ‘confetti’ are punched out using Real Red and the Confetti Hearts Border Punch.  The Shaker is made using the Window Sheets for the window and the new Foam Adhesive Strips to create the shaker.

Here is the inside:

Inside is layered with Dapper Denim Card Stock and Whisper White Card Stock.  Using the Confetti Stars Border Punch at the bottom of the White layer so that the pretty Blue Stars show through.  I loved doing this card, can’t wait until ordering day June 1!  Hope the UPS man takes his Wheelies on delivery day!

Pacific Point, Real Red and Whisper White, Red, White and Blue for Memorial Day Card.

Memorial Day will  be here in two short weeks.  My grandson (in law) is deployed to Iraq and I wanted him to know I was thinking about him so I developed this card after seeing Lynn’s (Stamping with Lynn)  pretty card.  I did change it up a bit but used the same basic design.

Soldier, Red,White, Blue

The colors are Real Red, Pacific Point  and Whisper White.  I had a small piece of red glitter paper left from Valentine’s a couple years ago for the large star frame.  But I think the Stampin’ Up! Shiny Red Paper would do just as well.

*Whisper White is card base, layered on the front with a piece of Pacific Point.

*1 1/2″ piece of Pacific Blue punched on both sides with the border Star Punch. Adhere with All Purpose Glue.

*Stamp the soldier figure from “For Your Country” Stamp Set in Pacific Point on Whisper White Card Stock.

*Die Cut the soldier figure using the best frame that fits and center him.

*Die Cut the star frame placing the same size star die  that was used to cut him out and the next size up to create a frame.  Adhere carefully to the Whisper White Star with Stampin’ Up! Fine Tip Glue Pen and adhere to card base fitting to front of card.

*Die Cut another star from the red in the smallest size and adhere to the upper right corner.

*Using Pacific Point Ink and sentiment from Happy Home Stamp Set stamp sentiment on Whisper White Card Stock.

*Quickly dust with Stampin’ Up! Clear Embossing powder and carefully heat emboss.

* Using appropriate size die from the Tags and Labels Framelit set die cut sentiment.

*Die cut the next up size of die from Tags and Framelits for background and adhere to sentiment and adhere to right lower side of card.

RWB inside

*Layer a piece of  Real Red Card Stock to inside of Card.

*Using Stampin’ Up!  Confetti Stars Border Punch on side of next layer of Whisper White Card Stock.

*Using Real Red Ink and sentiment from the  Stampin’ Up! Grateful Bunch Stamp Set, stamp in the middle of the upper card.

*Quickly cover all with Stampin’ Up! Clear Embossing powder and heat emboss.

*Using the middle of the front star frame left over cut another frame by placing a smaller star die inside and die cutting.  Adhere to left side of card.

*Adhere Whisper White Card to Real Red layer.

The envelope is lined with the Pacific Point  paper from the Brights Collection Stack DSP and die cut using the envelope liner die.

Watch for my next post.  I cute children’s quick and easy card!
